Okay - I don't normally advocate getting any paper other than Sunday's but today Harris Teeter has a flyer with $16.00 worth of coupons good this weekend only (Friday to Sunday) - one of my regular couponning friends did tell me that they state that they cannot be combined with manufacturer's coupons... but she is going to go to Publix today to see if they will take them as competitor's coupons!
What you get for your newpaper investment:
(4) .50 off any item, (4) 1.00 on items $2 or more, and (2) $5 off 40
If you can use these at Publix you may be able to use them with man. coupons :)
If you do pick them up and use them this weekend, please let me know if you used them at HT, or Publix and what you saved with them!
A blog to help you save money and time by providing couponning tips and links to great deals and coupons!

Decisions, decisions...
Now that Publix has changed their 'Mystery coupon penny' day to Wednesdays, I really have to scan the inserts to make sure it will be worth my $1.75 to buy a second copy of the P & C. My general rule of thumb is to always buy one paper - partly because at least once a week I feel nostalgic and actually want to read a paper, do the crossword in pencil and save the comics section to wrap birthday gifts... Some weeks it's really easy to decide - there are 3, 4 or 5 good inserts... other weeks, not so much...
So, how do I decide whether there is value in it for me? Three ways:
I know that there is alot of waste generated by buying multiple papers... so I reuse and recycle religiously... I separate my newspapers and donate them to the art classes at the kids schools as often as they want them and as I say, I save the comics sections to wrap kids birthday presents in...
So will you be buying a second paper on Sunday? Share your thoughts and comments please :)
So, how do I decide whether there is value in it for me? Three ways:
- I make a list (or highlight the one I have printed from Southern Savers or another site - this week the first one I saw was at SS, so that's the link I'm providing) of all the coupons I might use.
- I check my 'inventory' of what I have at home... even if there is a coupon for something I usually use in the paper, if I have a 6 month supply, I probably won't need the coupon before it expires
- I add up the savings from the highlighted coupons, less the inventory list and get a value of the inserts...

Two Buy or not Two Buy
I am going to advocate something that some people will think I'm crazy for saying - Buy TWO Sunday newspapers... my reason for this is multi- fold but basic...
- BOGO works best with two coupons
- If you have a PUBLIX and plan to shop on Sunday and Monday, you can get the 1cent deal twice
- You will have more to trade
- If you are getting a great deal on one item, why not buy two?
If you look at my post from yesterday, you can see how you can get both papers free or nearly free if you use the Harvey's coupons and combine them with man. coupons and deals and then you will be set for weeks to come.
Don't forget to check out what manufacturers coupons are available this week here (Southern Savers)
If you are going to save more than $3.50 in coupons (even without the 1 cent) by buying two, it will be worth it :) Happy Couponning
